2016 SKI DOO Summit SP 600 ETec 146 | SKI DOO Review

Winter is just around the corner, and while you're taking advantage of the last little bit of fall riding that is left, soon you'll be winterizing your boats, jet skis, dirt bikes, and 4 wheelers. Sure most of you will cry knowing that the warm weather is gone, and the frigid temperatures will be creeping up your back in no time, but for some of us it's the best time of the year. There's nothing like waking up on a Saturday morning to fresh powder in the mountains, and on the freshly groomed trails. We call it "White Gold" falling from the sky, most people think were crazy. People look at winter and think of hot cocoa around a warm fireplace, while wearing a warm Canada Goose jacket. So what comes to our mind when we think of winter? Heated hand grips, bright FXR jackets, and a whole lot of horsepower ready to be unleashed to tear up that fresh powder all day long. We're not talking about riding your grandpa's 1989 Tundra 250, although that thing will go pretty much anywhere, but we're talking about the new 2016 SKI DOO Summit SP 600 ETec146. The biggest bang for your buck!

So why the SKI DOO Summit SP 600 ETec 146? Well for many reasons of course, just like any review let's break it down. First off you have to ask yourself how much trail riding you're gonna do, how much lake running, and how much powder riding you're gonna do. If you answered mostly powder, and trail riding, then this is the best all around sled. I know, I know, you're wondering why not the Renegade Backcountry right? Well, this is the Backcountry, lower the gearing, switch out the track to a 2.5" paddle flex track, and add a set of risers, bring in the ski stance, and you got yourself a Summit. So if they're pretty much the same sled, why not go with the Renegade instead, wouldn't it out perform the Summit on the trail? Yes it would out perform cornering for sure, and maybe not launch massive chunks of snow at the rider behind you, but once you hit the powder, you'll be thankful you got that 2.5" paddle launching snow out the back of the sled. It's really all about what you enjoy most. If all you think about is where the next best powder riding spot is, then this is the machine for you.

So why only a 600 ETec and a 146" long track? Two words, efficiency and flexibility. The 600 ETec is known for its phenomenal reliability, efficiency, and power. The 600 ETec outputs more horsepower then the 4-stroke 900 ACE engine and also beats it's 4-stroke counter-part's fuel economy as well. Other then having to rebuild it around the 10,000 km mark, there's really nothing else you have to do to this beast other than enjoy it and take good care of it.

The 2.5" paddle 146" long Flex Edge track is a perfect balance, not too short, that you'll always be getting stuck, and not too long, where manoeuvrability on the trails is next to impossible. In conjunction with the SKI DOO T-Motion Suspension system, the 146 will out perform in and out of the powder, it is a perfect balance of fun and reliability.
