Wood Chute | FreeRider Projects
So if you're lucky enough to live on the edge of a cliff, or mountain, and your primary source of heat is burning wood, well you're lucky! There's nothing like sitting by a cozy fire, while staring at the lake or mountains outside your big glass windows. Of course there are many disadvantages, or I should say road blocks when living on the edge of cliff, or mountain. First off you either gotta go up or down to get to where you wanna go, but hey look on the bright side, you're getting great exercise right? So what about getting your wood down your property and next to the house or cottage? Well, why not build a wood chute!
It doesn't take much to jimmy rig a chute together. Just get your hands on some plastic culverts, with a smooth interior surface, about 3 - 4 FT in diameter. The best place to find these is from your local road construction companies, or simply ask around town, you may be able to get yourself a good deal. Connect a series of culverts together until your required length is achieved, then simply support them with a off of the ground if required. You can use 4x4's, 2x6's, etc. whatever you can get your hands on! NOTE: this is not a 1 person project, invite your friends and family to give you a hand, just make sure you bring lots of free beer for them!
